My name is Kristy Ford and this is my eigth year teaching 1st grade at Pine City Elementary. I am happy to be teaching first grade and cannot wait to get to know all of my first graders and their families!
I am originally from Robbinsdale, which is just outside of Minneapolis. Most of my family still resides in the Twin Cities area, however my twin brother lives in Oregon. I am married to another wonderful teacher. (We actually met when he taught at our school!) He now teaches preschool in the cities. I have two wonderfully wild stepsons, Jeremiah, a 5th grader, Seamus, a 3rd grader, and a 1 year old daughter Margaret. When I'm not teaching I enjoy reading, playing games with my family and drinking lots of coffee :)
I received my Elementary Education degree from the College of Saint Benedict/St. John's University, as well as degrees in 5th-8th grade Mathematics and Spanish. Then I graduated with my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from St. Cloud State. Ever since I was in second grade, I've dreamed about becoming a teacher. I consider myself truly lucky to be working a job that I love! I love the energy, enthusiasm and curiosity that first graders bring to my class every day!
